Giving rise to a pure thought. The Diamond Sutra, Verse 10. 

 

We permeate into the Diamond Sutra in English.

 

The Buddha asks Subhuti, “What do you think, has the Tathagata ever attained any Dharma in the residence of the Buddha Dipankara?”

Subhuti replies, “No, Lord, he has not attained anything.”

“What do you think, Subhuti? Does any Bodhisattva create harmonious Buddhafields?”

“No, Lord. Why? The serene Buddhafields are not majestic, being only called beautiful.”

“Therefore, Subhuti. All the great Bodhisattva should give rise to a pure thought like this.

Producing an unsupported thought, they do not dwell on forms, sounds, smells, tastes, touchables or objects of mind to have their minds not staying anywhere.

If Subhuti, in a metaphor, a person’s body is as big as Mount Sumeru, would you say that his body is big?“
