Getting to the gateway of all subtleness.

 

(1) 原文 The Original Text.

 

We permeate into the Tao Te Ching.

道可道非常道

The tao that can be spoken of is not the eternal Tao.

名可名非常名

The name that can be named is not the universal name.

無名天地之始有名萬物之母

The unnamable is the real and naming is the manifestations of all things.

故常無欲而觀基妙

Therefore, free from desire, you see the mystery.

常有欲而觀基黴

Caught in desire, you see only the manifestations.

此兩者同出而異名

Both of them arise from the same source but naming fragments different things.

同謂之玄

The same source is the mystery.

玄之又玄衆妙之門

The mystery within the mystery; the gateway to all subtleness.

One line a day, what I have read is like this.

Free from naming, you see the Great Integrity.

Mysteries and intuitions spring from the universal Tao.

Both of these are naming.

Naming fragments our intuitive consciousnss into our reasoning consciousness.

Free from naming, you see the wholeness and holiness.

Getting rid of our reasoning consciousness, we will get to the gateway of all subtleness.
